Bubbly Funk Cyber Crop Calendar

From this...

To this....

In a few, very easy steps. This was my calendar that I made for the Cyber Crop over at Bubbly Funk

It was so simple to make and very versatile too as you can easily alter the size to suit your desk. If you want the instructions, just let me know.

Cyber Crop

Had a great day over at Bubbly Funk with the first ever Cyber Crop. The day started at 9am with hourly classes from DiO, DiW, Caroline, Kathy, Joanne and myself.

Loads of new members joined the forum to enjoy the day which was a huge success!

There are some great projects for us to follow to get our creative juices flowing for the Christmas period.

The day ended at 8pm with Christmas Chat Room Bingo - the tears of laughter were flowing, I can tell you!

Friday 23 November 2007

I won another RAK!!!

I was so pleased I was grinning like the proverbial Cheshire Cat! I had a quick scoot round the blogs today and found that I had been picked out of the hat on Tracey's Bad Girl's RAK.

That's two I've won recently. I'm a smiley, excited bunny now!

I'll take a piccie of my goodies to make you all jealous when they arrive. ;-)

Her Space : My Space - Crystal

The challenge is today is to find Crystal in your space. I found this is in mine...

I was going to give it a quick polish and take it again but decided the water spots added character! LOL ;-)

Beaudacious Babes - page 2

This is the other page I made last night to go with my original Beaudacious Babes page I made on Tuesday night. Glad I made myself do it straight away rather than put it off until tomorrow, because, as we are all very aware... tomorrow never comes!

This page includes my great-niece, Shannon as well as Jacob Freya.

Her Space : My Space - Thirsty

Didn't fancy a beer so went for a lovely cup of Summer Fruits herbal tea instead!

Her Space : My Space - Grain

These are my grains, and in case you couldn't work out what they are grains of I've included the salt grinder.

Sneaky peek...

Bubbly Funk are having a Cyber Crop from 9am this Saturday, 24th November. Why not pop over and see what we've got planned for you?

This is one of my classes.... well a sneaky peek at it anyway.

I'll blog the finished article after Saturday.

Di Hickman - November Sketch #1

Bit late and out of synch with this one as I made it for my son's birthday and forgot to photograph it before I gave it to him then I forgot to take the photo! Duh!

Anyways, here it is...

Paper is Chatterbox Paisley Snowflakes and the plain cardstock is Bazzil. The 'cool' chipboard is from Bubbly Funk which I've coloured silver and embossed with UTEE. The numbers are from We Are Memory Keepers which I've chosen to leave as they are and mounted them onto a chipboard circle which I've given a distressed metallic look to.

Beaudacious Babes!

Had a meeting in Leicester last night, during which I got the chance to make this....

I'm not normally a scrapper, more of a cardmaker but am pretty pleased with the outcome.

I'm going to make this a DLO when I get the chance to make the other page. Was a bit 'aarghhhh' when I saw the paper colours and my photos I'd taken, but think that they worked quite well in the end.

Di Hickman - November Sketch #2

Di Hickman's November sketch #2

Background papers were Rhonna Farrer with a little doodling on the bird and her song. Sentiment and Christmas tree were freebies from a magazine.

Birthday Boy - 12 today!!!

Well, my eldest was 12 today. Can't believe where the time has gone, to be honest. Been a pretty miserable, wet kind of day outside, but Jacob being Jacob, he was quite happy to sit with his PSP and a book in his hands. We've had a houseful of visitors for most of the day, seems it was one out, one in again. Even Jacob disappeared upstairs for a while away from all the attention, bless him.

Freya (my little sous chef) and I baked him a cake this morning ('scuse the bad icing, my butter cream icing was too stiff, but you get the gist of his age LOL!) and as I normally miss out on a piece it was a wheat free one this year so I had a big bit to make up for missing out in previous years! LOL.

Just look what we ordered for him from Mother Nature to celebrate his special day.... hehe! Freya believed us but Jacob didn't!

DCM - Getting Corrugated

On DCM this week it was Jo's turn to set the dare. She came up with this....

I seem to have developed a little bit of a fixation with old cardboard boxes....! My dare this week is to use some corrugated card on your card - it could be corrugated craft card or an old box etc. taken to pieces :) You could make the card blank from it or die cut shapes etc...

I came up with this....

The flowers were cut two at a time (ribbed sides together) with a Sizzix die on my Big Shot and them painted with silver, copper and gold metallic acrylic paints. The plant pot is actually a Sizzix parcel, minus the bow. The stems are spiralled and flattened wire. Greeting was a Penny Black stamp and black Stazon and the edges of the card lightly inked with a light brown.

Bubblicious Babes at the NEC

I gave you a little taster the other day of a card that I made and couldn't share with you. Well, I met up with Beth in Birmingham when I want to the NEC so can now show you her birthday card.

It was lovely to meet up again with Caroline, DiO, DiW and Karen and to meet Beth and TraceyR for the first time. Poor Tony (DiO's DH) and Jeremy (Karen's DH) what they must have felt with the 7 of us, especially as it was Beth's 40th birthday the day before and we celebrated not too quietly. Karen arranged a cake. All I can say is OMG!!!!! It was in the shape of a pair of boxershort, complete with 'bulge'

Beth looked a tad shocked when it came out.

The instructions to Beth were to remove the boxers around the bulge are to reveal the contents...... poor bloke who modeled for the cake maker must have been cold, he'd gone blue! Wanna see what the fuss was about? Ok then, here goes...

Watercolour pencils

Over on Alphabet Funk, I've uploaded instructions on how to use watercolour pencils on stamped images.

I'll add them to my blog at a later point.

Friday 9 November 2007

I'm off...........!!!

To meet some of the girls from Bubbly Funk tonight in Birmingham ready for our little outing to the NEC Hobbycrafts Show tomorrow. I'm really looking forward to meeting up again with Caroline, Di, Di & Karen again and to meeting TraceyR and Beth too!

I pity Tony and Jeremy who are coming along too - the are going to be soooo outnumbered tonight LOL ;-)

My camera batteries are charged and ready to capture some shots of our 'birthday girl' Beth. (Will has told me to keep an eye on my camera because of my recent track record - how cheeky is that?! I've only lost ONE camera in the past few weeks).

Catch you soon xx

And a few more...!

The papers were from the wonderful pressie that the lovely Kathy from Daring Card Makers sent me for being 'first out of the hat' on their anniversary dare. (Thanks Kathy!) Chipboard tags etc were from We are Memory Keepers. Blooms, ribbon and buttons are from stash.

Thank you, thank you, thank you..... Daring Card Makers

I arrived home to find two wonderful packets full of goodies from Kathy and Rhi. They were my goodies for being first out of the hat on the DCM anniversary dare.

This is what I've got to play with from Kathy...

And from Rhi...

Thank you so much you two, you are wonderful and very generous. Thanks to all the DCM team for their fabulous dares. We love them so much!

xx

Just a few.....

Sat down last night to make ONE card and after finishing my 6th decided to call it a night and go to bed!

Papers were freebie Crate Papers from Scrapbook magazine a while back, lovely aren't they? Blooms were from Dunelm and Sarah's Cards. Ribbon and buttons from stash. The 'dream' stamp came from the drawer I keep my stamps in, don't ask me the manufacture because I really can't remember!

Can't show the whole of the third piccie as it's not been recieved by them yet and I know they read my blog.

HS:MS - Confused

Confused? Moi? Where would you start with this little lot then?

HS:MS - Excited!

I'm excited about this photo as it's my sister's wedding photos that we've had made into a table book for her. Couldn't wait to rip open that packaging when the postie delivered it this morning!

HS:MS - First Ever

I've decided to try my hand at the Her Space : My Space challenges. This is my first and as I have my new fabby camera I have no excuse really apart from working full time, bringing up 2 children and being a wife too, have I???!!

Anyone imagine why this view might make me sad....? LOL

Di Hickman - October Sketch #5

My interpretation of Di Hickman's October Sketch #5 is this...

Papers were from SEI Hippie Chick range. The chipboard frame is embossed with red then double embossed with UTEE and finished with 2 gold brads. I used a peel off for the greeting (all those who know me know that I actually HATE peel offs but decided to use one just because!) A little doodling finished it off.

Sunday 4 November 2007

You make me smile...

I've actually been awarded this a couple of times, but have forgotten to blog it before. So while I actually remember to do it, I'm doing it now! IYSWIM!

So it's thanks to Janice for being so generous in her thoughts and for jogging my memory. Thanks also to those who have nominated me in the past. I'm glad that I can bring a little sunshine into the life of others xx

I would love to nominate three special people who never fail to make me smile just for being themselves.... Will, my wonderful husband, Jacob, my handsome son and Freya, my most beautiful daughter. I will love you all to the end of time. Thank you so much for being yourselves and the most important things in my life.

In my blogging world I would like to nominate my Bubbly Funk Friends Caroline, DiO and DiW as you three make me laugh so much that I have been know to run to the loo before I embarass myself. I love the three of you like only a friend can. xx

Stanwick Lakes

We had a lovely day out today at Stanwick Lakes, just off the A45 between Wellingborough and Thrapston. It's an old quarry that has been converted to a nature reserve with a great play area, walks and lakes. We packed the kids' bikes with us and the dog had a great walk too.

I took my new camera with me and below is a little sample of what I took (I actually took 110 photos, but thought that a bit excessive to blog! LOL LOL).

DCM - And Cut!

This week its Tracie setting the dare and it is to make a card and CUT!

Any theme goes, so for those of you needing a break from Christmas crafting this is the perfect opportunity to have a change. All styles are welcome but there MUST be an element of handcutting somewhere. It could be a greeting, a shape, letters printed on your pc and handcut, anything goes as long as you did it by hand.

I decided to go 'simple' for this week's dare as it's really how I feel at the mo! My befuzzled brain is definately not up to too much of a challenge! LOL.

The background was water-coloured with H2O lookie likies. I drew the silhouette by hand on the reverse of some black card and then hand cut it out. With a silver pen, I added doodling round the edge of the 'houses' and hand wrote a greeting along the bottom. The 'Happy Birthday' was done using a letter stencil onto some black card. This was cut out and matted onto a leftover piece of the background offcut.

Tagged - again!

My bubbly friends Janice and Kaz have tagged me to answer the following...

1. If you could have £100 worth of scrapbook paper or assorted embellishments, which would you choose? I would have to go for the embellishments. I love blooms, buttons and brads at the mo. I've got loads of papers although there are always new ones that I'd like to have. In the embellishments I would also like to have die cutting and embossing folders to MAKE embellishments if that counts too please.

2. If you had to choose between using only stamps or rubons, which would you choose? Has to be stamps as i don't get on too well with rub ons, I prefer Safmat.

3. If you knew how to do both awesome cards and layouts but could only do one for a whole year...which would you do? It would have to be cards I'm afraid, although I dabble in scrapbooking, I like to share my art with others.

4. Would you rather own a scrapbooking store or have your own scrapping room at home...(can't have both he he he) How cruel is this question???!!! I would want both of course, but if I had to make the choice it has to be my own room, where I could put my chill out music on low, close the door to the world and just play to my heart's content. Owning the store would be too cruel - all that stash and not enough time to play with it...

5. And last but not least, what is your CURRENT cardmaking or scrapping style. I like feminine, flowers, white base cards and a tinty bit of glitz.

So that more peeps can be tagged and not to hog all the lovely bloggers, I'm only going to tag one and that's Di

I've been tagged by Caroline

Seven random facts about myself.......

1. I'm married to my first love.

2. I hate listening to music through headphones (of whichever type, be they ear buds or great big ones).

3. I love chocolate and would eat it instead of a meal, even breakfast!

4. I absolutely love being a mother and am so proud of my two children.

5. I am too short tempered for my own good sometimes.

6. I cannot stand the smell let alone the taste of whiskey / brandy etc.

7. I would love to drive an articulated lorry.

Now my turn to pass the tag on to.....

Sam, Linda, Mel (only doing three as all the others seem to have been done before me).

Scrapbook picture

My sister's birthday is coming up so I've decided to scrap a page for her which I've backed onto a 12"x12" canvas so she can hang it as a picture.

The photographs are of my two children (her only niece and nephew) and her grandaughter taken at my other sister's wedding last month.

Backing card: Paper Mania
White/Pink torn paper: Stash - had it too long to remember where it came from
Tulip card: SEI Doodley Doo Girl - Totally Tublips
Blooms: Dunelm
Button: Stash

I won, I won, I won...!

Been feeling really bleugh recently and need to go back to the docs for some more tests but was excited when I read the Bubbly Funk forum this afternoon to be referred to the DCM site where I found out I won the Circle of Friends dare (don't be too impressed that I won, my name was picked out at random!) Am off to email my address to Kathy now! Woo Hoo! I never win anything!

THANKS Daring Card Makers, you cheered me up so much today!

My camera is here.......

Couriers pah! They supposedly left a card at work for me when they tried to delivery my new camera yesterday at 8.45am (invisible card as it was!). I managed to get hold of the courier at 5.45pm last night and arranged to collect it this morning, so off I went down the A14 to the depot to collect my replacement toy and it's now with me in my grubby little hands (well I say MY hands but Will is sitting on the sofa next to me playing with MY new toy! - but seeing as he is the house camera expert I best leave him alone to set it up for me properly.

I've managed to take a few photos with it already and am so pleased to have my own camera again. I nipped to Jessops earlier to buy the UV filter to protect the lens and a spare battery which is now charged up and in my new bag that Will got for me (my very own little Lowepro camera backpack - a mini version of his £££££ one!)

We're off out tomorrow morning once the beef is in the oven roasting slowly to take some photos, Will, me and Freya with our cameras and Jacob bored and moaning no doubt (he doesn't do photography as he says he doesn't have the patience).

Have you ever noticed that you really miss what you once had? I have seen so many photo opportunities lately but as I've not had a camera for 3 weeks I've not been able to take them. I normally take my camera pretty much everywhere I go. I will again now!

Right off to photograph my latest DCM now ready to blog. Catch ya later.

Thursday 1 November 2007

I'm soooo looking forward to tomorrow!

I spoke to our insurance company again yesterday afternoon and had to email them a scan of the original receipt for my camera that we bought after Easter (to replace my 9 month old camera that the kids broke when they dropped it). They rang me back last night to confirm that they've received it, took my card details to pay the excess and told me that our claim had been approved and my new camera should be with me tomorrow!!!!

How come when you're used to having something around whenever you need it, regardless of whether you use it daily or not, as soon as you don't have it you NEED it! I am so used to having a camera with me every day, that I've missed it not being there. Bit like an addiction I suppose.

There are so many autumnal photo opportunities that I see while I'm driving round that I can't take that I seem to have photographic withdrawal symptoms at the moment.

Will has promised that we're all going out at the weekend with cameras in hand (except Jacob who is so not into photography, despite his dad's obvious talent) to take some golden autumnal shots. We haven't told Freya yet but she'll be excited too when she finds out.

And on the note of Freya and photography. Will has created an album in Photobox for her own photos and is getting them all printed up for her. I just need to sort out a physical album to put them in for her now. I can't believe that at 6 years of age she can take photos that many adults are not capable of taking.

Watch this space, I can't wait to blog some autumn photos.
