Chatting to a friend at work who said she wanted to do something 'really special and different' for her man this year. Not the normal, buy it from a shop, mass produced tat but something that meant something.
I came up with the idea of doing a canvas and being the arty friend that I am created a box for her to give to him.
But me being me, wasn't satisfied with just an empty box for her; I had to create something to fit inside it (well, to be honest I made the box to fit the canvas!) So I came up with this from the photograph she emailed across to me.
Am really pleased to say both Penny and Roger LOVED my creation. To see her face when she opened the box at work to look at it was a real prize for me. Let's just say it was taken out of her desk drawer many times on Thursday last week to look at ;-) May they always be as happy and in love as they look in this photo. xxxx

Been making cards...
Further to Dee's challenge this week. I actually made 8 cards from my leftovers. Two I've published over on that blog, but I'm showing the others here.
All cards feature the leftover paper scraps from the Crate Paper 'Lemon Grass' collection as supplied by Indigo Mill for our challenge blog. The stamps are from Papermania. The only other thing I used was a brown inkpad, some glitter glue and some white Pebeo paint.
This one I adhered to a canvas to make a piece of wall art if necessary. The contents of the card can be kept secret from prying eyes as it's closed with a ribbon tied into a bow.

All of these are just plain and simple 7"x5" cards.

Well, Canvas me happy!
I'm loving altering canvases at the moment. As leaving presents for Freya's teachers i made all three of them a 7"x5" canvas to decorate their classrooms. The idea for making them came from my own cupcake canvas that I made for ME!!!!

I really tried to make them all so different to each other. Hope they like them and can remember what a wonderful little girl that Freya is as well as being a delight to teach.

Our thanks go to Lucy, Jackie (teaching assistant) and Georgina for looking after Freya in her final year of infant school and preparing her for the step up to the juniors in September.
Teachers are the educators of our future. Without them we would have no doctors, scientists, academics, pioneers or indeed any other member of the community who perform so many of the unrecognised, thankless tasks. We are lucky in the UK to have such a fantastic team of teachers working with our children.

4 generations...
I recently got a huge bag of photograph albums from my mum and dad as I want to scan and save some of the photos from there to scrapbook them.
I came across photographs of my parent's wedding in 1958 and of my grandparents (nan and pop) and also of my great grandparents. I need to ask mum who the little girl is with her grandparents, as I don't know who it is.
So with that in mind, I pulled out and scanned one of my wedding photographs to produce this canvas layout of 4 generations of ladies on my mother's side.
I'm really pleased with the result and it now stands on the side at home.

The canvas kit is from Craft-ED. If you're interested in getting your hands on one, then drop me an email. It includes all the plain canvas background and die cuts to get you going. All you need to add is glue/tape and an inkpad as well as your photographs.

Craft-ED product

This gorgeous Quick Quotes canvas kit is available to buy from me. It measures 6"x6" and includes everything you need (except photographs, an ink pad and glues) to make a magnet backed canvas for you to display your loveliest photo - in my case my beautiful daughter dressed in her finery as a bridesmaid last year. I think it's a fabulous price too at only £7.00. This is ideal for a beginner right through to an experienced crafter.
Contact me to find out how you could get your hands on one to produce your own work of art to be treasured. Great for a gift for grandparents etc. Sorry mum and dad. Love you dearly as I do, I'm keeping this one though! LOL xx

Canvasses
I was asked to make a sign with his name on for my boss' son's friend, Seb. Instead I decided to make him a canvas to hang on his wall. The canvas is 12x12" which is covered in SEI paper. Lettering is cut from Sizzix dies. Chipboard accents from We Are Memory Keepers.

This led onto making one for my boss' son, Lewis too.

The backing card is Bazill Bling (lush!). The 'Coffee Bean' is from stash bought in a sale a couple of years back. Lettering again cut with a Sizzix die. The chipboard arrow is covered in some embossed script paper, triple clear embossed and edged with gold krylon. I also edged the Coffee Been paper with the krylon to make it a little 'rustic'

Scrapbook picture
My sister's birthday is coming up so I've decided to scrap a page for her which I've backed onto a 12"x12" canvas so she can hang it as a picture.
The photographs are of my two children (her only niece and nephew) and her grandaughter taken at my other sister's wedding last month.

Backing card: Paper Mania
White/Pink torn paper: Stash - had it too long to remember where it came from
Tulip card: SEI Doodley Doo Girl - Totally Tublips
Blooms: Dunelm
Button: Stash
