Birthday Blog Candy

This is what I made for my Birthday blog candy. Sam's name was drawn using the random thingy. I made her a little album book to keep her CD's in. Crafty, music or otherwise.

Ribbons are from Ribbon Mad. Blooms from Bubbly Funk and Dunelm. Monogram is BasicGrey which I've heat embossed. Papers are DCWV. Stamped letters are Amuse.

Sneaky Peek...

This is a little sneaky peek of what I made for my birthday blog candy. I sent this and some goodies off.

When I know it's been received, I'll reveal all..

Bubbly Funk February Sketch

Caroline at Bubbly Funk sets a monthly sketch for us. I decided to sketch a photo of my two at the beach on the Isle of Wight in July 2006.

All papers were DCWV. The title is cut using the Sizzix Mango Tango alphabet. Buttons, brads and ribbon from stash. Ink used is ColorBox chalk ink.

Di Hickman - January Sketch #1

Di Hickman set a lovely sketch for the first of 2008. I can see me using this one time and time again.

Here is what I came up with:

My ribbons are from my drawer and could be from a couple of different suppliers. The flowers are Primas and the ribbons are from my tin. The letters are actually magnets that were a lovely pressie from my friend Caroline over at Bubbly Funk The stamped 'h' is from Amuse.

And here is what Freya made, sitting beside me, watching intently and interpreting the sketch to make it her own. My only help was with the swirls.

All pieces are from stash (hers and mine!) I think at 7 years old, she's done an absolutely FAB job, don't you?

Freya's card can also qualify for the DCM dare this week of 'New'

DCM - Team Dare Year End... 4 of the best

Hi All. Today we have decided to revisit your most favourite dares of 2007. The four top dares, decided by the number of comments you made on them are (in no particular order): 'buttons', 'ribbons', ...'and cut' and 'frames'. We would like you to use this week as many of those dares as you like to make your card in any theme and any style.

I managed to include all 4 of the best elements into my card. BUTTONS and a RIBBON on the FRAME which is set over a die CUT initial.

I've also never painted with acrylics straight onto a card to create a background so am pretty please with the result there too. Couldn't make it too monochromatic so I added a simple, red button to the bottom right hand corner. It's for Will's birthday on 3rd January.

I painted a bare chipboard negative 'W' with black acrylic paint and a slide mount with white acrylic paint. These were then both double coated with UTEE for the gloss effect.

And a few more...!

The papers were from the wonderful pressie that the lovely Kathy from Daring Card Makers sent me for being 'first out of the hat' on their anniversary dare. (Thanks Kathy!) Chipboard tags etc were from We are Memory Keepers. Blooms, ribbon and buttons are from stash.

DCM - Ribbon recipe

We're still playing with those wonderful Ribbon Oasis ribbons but this time we've got a Ribbony Recipe for you to play with.

The ingredients you need to use on your cards are:
4 brads/eyelets
3 circles
2 rectangles
and lashings of ribbon!

We're still playing with ribbons and as Christmas is rapidly approaching, this was my theme for the Little Extra Dare this week.

Paper was from Paper Adventures 'Holiday Sparkle Tree Border' and the tokens were from Doodlebug 'Winter'.

4 eyelets secure the ribbon to the card, of which 2 are used to thread the ribbon through for the bow. My 3 circles are my winter tokens and the 2 rectangles are my matted miniature trees. Ribbons and a little glitter sparkle finish the card off.

DCM - Wrap it in Ribbon for Christmas

So this week we'd love you to join in and make Christmas cards using lots and lots of fabby, yummy ribbon - now that shouldn't be too hard, after all we all love ribbon, don't we?

This is my second card for this challenge as the first card submitted had absolutely nothing to do with Christmas (duh!)

The white card was embossed with the Cuttlebug Embossing Folder 'snowflakes'. The Christmas Tree was painted with watercolour pencils and Twinkling H2O's. Ribbon and rik rak was all from my stash.
