Stamford's Springtime Sunshine

We've had a beautiful Spring day today.  The sun was in the sky and it was lovely and warm (bit chilly in the shade still, but it's getting there...!)

With the chicken in the oven roasting slowly for dinner, we headed out to Stamford which is about 20 minutes from us.  It's just off the A1 and is such a beautiful little market town.  If you get a chance, you should go for the quaint little shops and boutiques, the narrow lanes, the numerous churches and amazing architecture.

So, these are what I captured on my camera.  I will be going back again soon I think with the tripod as there were a couple of photos that I really wanted to take but needed a steadier hand than I could manage.  That's for another day though.

My hunny....

The George Hotel - very nice!

Hunny takes a photo!

I love the texture of this old, twisted vine on the wall.

Found this little lady in the car park....

Hmmm... me thinks Little Miss wasn't very impressed!

Quaint alleyways leading to gorgeous little shops & boutiques.

Winding lanes.....

Architecture....

The old fella... AGAIN!

Twisting and turning...

You could shake hands between these two buildings from upstairs!

Remember to look up - there are amazing things to see...

Lest we forget... so true a  sentiment "For your tomorrow, We gave our today"

Floor mosaics in front of the gates...

Another of the many churches...

A tantalising view through to the other side...

through this passageway...

Where I found these little snowdrops, bobbing their heads in the breeze...

 Time & foot worn stairs

Jacob!!! Do NOT press the bell!

Ornately carved church pews...

And church grates...

Lead to the altar...

Which is opposite the most amazing stained glass window...

And is watched over by this angel and her friends...

The symbol of Christianity...

Stone needle.

Hope you're not too bored by all the piccies (I didn't load them all - there are plenty more!)

Wonderful photos Rosie. Ouch to that stone needle though that looks very pointy. :)

The photos are lovely Rosie - as you know, we go up and down the A1 regularly, always see the signs for Stamford but have never been there. I think maybe we should!

Hope you are keeping well, Honey, I've been rubbish at keeping contact lately - just lurching from one massive "to-do" list to the next
