My mojo is home and (hopefully) here to stay, so I'm looking for new challenges to take part in and I've therefore created my first card for the Twisted Sketch Blog.
The twist on the sketch? It's got to have yellow and yellow my card has - lots of it! In fact it's as sunny as the sunniest day of the year so far!
I don't know the paper manufacture unfortunately as it was included in a RAK from the lovely Rebekah. I'd used the rest of the paper for a project that I'll upload on Thursday for PaperPlay Challenges, who's design team I'm on. I wrapped my scalloped card with yellow and orange Bakers Twine. The inside of the card is accented using the last of the sheet of patterned paper as well as a little journalling spot for the greeting.
Creative Ingredients:
Paper (To be confirmed) - Baker's Twine; The Twinery - Alphas; BasicGrey - Embossing folder: Cutlebug - Button, Gold card & gems; stash

PaperPlay Challenges - Embossing
If it's Thursday then it's challenge time again over at the PaperPlay Challenge Blog This time we'd like to see your creations made using EMBOSSING. You can choose to either dry emboss or heat emboss, it's entirely up to you!
We're kindly sponsored this week by MELJENSDESIGNS who gave us some really cute images to work with. They're offering up 4 images to one lucky winner who joins us this week.
My cats image was printed out and is coloured using Promarkers. I chose to dry emboss a heart cut on my Big Shot using a Sizzix Heart die and the Cuttlebug Heart Blocks embossing folder. The card is backed by a lovely, vintage looking piece of BasicGrey Capella paper which I inked the edges of using a QuickQuotes inkpad. Flowers are from Prima. and it's finished with a couple of journalling spots cut from cardstock, lettered with alphas from Making Memories and tied with some gorgeous pale green/blue lace.
The perfect card for my parent's 53rd wedding anniversary at the end of this month.

New stamps
I treated myself to two stamp sets in the Stampin' Up range Sale via the lovely Jo Austin. The 'For Father' set reduced to a bargain £11.48 and the 'Summer by the Sea' set - although I bought the German version of this as it was cheaper in the sale than the English version! £18.71 as opposed to £24.95. (Scrooge I hear you cry, but I wanted the pictorial stamps rather than the sentiments, and it saved me over £6!!).
Anyhoo, the delivery is speedy indeed and the quality is fantastic. They are cut deeply and stamp perfectly.
I've only played with the Summer by the Sea set so far and wanted them simple and vintage in style so I stamped them with Chestnut Roan from ColorBox onto cream cardstock, and for my beach LO, I stamped onto craft cardstock. The couple cuddling are chalked lightly for a bit of added colour.

Some cards...
I've been a bizzy lil' bee recently making some cards for friends who have birthdays/anniversaries or babies and have come up with these...

Brenda's anniversary card is made using the gorgeous BasicGrey Two Scoops with ribbon from Ribbon Mad. The lettering is cut using Sizzix Curlie Girlie die which I've then used Glossy Accents on to give it some oomph!

Jayne's birthday card is BasicGrey Two Scoops again (can you tell I'm loving this paper atm?) Again the alphas are from the Sizzix Curlie Girlie dies and embellied up with Glossy Accents.

Lily's card is for my neighbour's daughter who had the most beautiful little girl recently. Congrats Michelle and Ging on your such a gorgeous daughter! Buggered if I can remember where that paper came from as I found it sitting all neglected and wanting to be used! That's even got a rub on which I don't normally use as well. Alphas are Sizzix Curlie Girlie.

Lola is the new daughter of Emma over at the Bubbly Funk Forum. Such a lovely lady. What a wonderful addition to her family Lola will be! She got the Two Scoops treatment too! Ribbon and the flowers from Ribbon Mad. The little elephant embossing die is from Cuttlebug.
On a slightly sadder note, you should never be without a sympathy card or two as tragedy hits us all at some time or another and always when we're not expecting a visit!

The black blooms on these are from Bazzil. The others are from Prima and the swirly 'stem' is cut using a Sizzix die. The stripey, glittered paper is from the DCWV Glitter Stack. Ribbon from Ribbon Mad. Ink pad Stazon

Daring Card Makers Catch Up
Playing catch up now my mojo has returned home!
Hide and Seek
Hi there, It's me, Kathy, here to set the challenge this week. Okay, for my dare we're heading to the playground for a game of Hide & Seek I'd like you to make a card which has a hidden component of some sort.
The hidden part could be a tag, a concealed photo, message or something along those lines, maybe a pull-out or pop-up.
Anything goes as long as there's something extra for the recipient to find on your card that's not immediately visible when they open the envelope.
I made this card in time for the dare but never uploaded it. Yep! It's got peel-offs which I absolutely HATE with a passion, but as it's for my friend who'll be 65 soon I actually thought they'd go quite well (So hope that doesn't come across in the wrong way!!) There is a little message on the back of the tag to her. I'm being very good at the mo as this is all made using stash. The paper I have had so long that I haven't a clue where it came from. The hearts and the flower are embellished with a little dimensional glaze to give it the raised effect.

Sending in the Substitute
Today's Little Extra was going to feature a tutorial by the fabby Jo which we hoped would inspire you to get creating. But poor Jo's been poorly all night and hasn't been able to upload it, so we'll just have to hang on a bit longer for that one - it'll be something to look forward to though. Hope you're feeling better really soon, Jo.
Tempting Template
In the meantime here's a card sketch for you to play with. Remember, you can twist, shrink, stretch and even turn it upside down - as long as we can find the basic plan in there use this sketch in whatever way you like.
I'm not one to use the freebie papers in magazines, but I really like this Blonde Moments paper, even though it is glossy. I cut two strips of heavily embossed watercolour paper and inked the edges in two colours of pink to tone with the papers. To tie in with the sketch, I cut into the design to overlap these two strips and then cut the top of the heart to tuck my tag underneath. The alpha stamps are from Stamps Away

Foiled
Hi all - Jo here to dare you this week. My dare this week is 'Foiled!' -I would like you to utilise some plain old aluminium (aluminum for our friends across the pond!) foil from your kitchen :). You can scrunch it, die cut it, emboss it, ink it, coil it, cover chipboard - or anything else that you choose!
I didn't want to use tin foil and was looking through my box when I came across this foiled paper from Kings I think. I've had it so long and have never used any of it so dusted it off for this dare. The hearts and the heart slider are cut with a Sizzix die. The chipboard swirl is an exclusive design from Bubbly Funk, the heart paper is embossed using a Cuttlebug folder. Both of these I've enhanced using metallic rub on paste in red and gold to tone.

As it's my 20th Wedding Anniversary in July, I may just save this for my DH, either that or mum dad can have it from the kids as it's their 50th in March.

Di Hickman - October Sketch #4
Right, I'm on time with this sketch (about time too I hear you cry!).

Christmas is knocking on the door so I'm now using sketches as an excuse to start making some of my cards.
Papers are from the English Paper Company. Stamp is Whipper Snapper Designs from Bubbly Funk and the vellum is embossed with the Cuttlebug 'snowflake' embossing folder.

DCM - O Christmas Tree
I've been quite remiss on my DCM cards of late so I had a catch up. I'll post the latest I've done.
This one is the dare from Tuesday 16th October and is therefore a week late.
Yes, we want to see lots and lots of Christmas Trees - that should help you get those stocks of cards looking a bit healthier.

The silver paper is embossed with a Cuttlebug folder using my Big Shot. The Christmas tree is a stamp that I was given at the NEC last year and the Merry Christmas is one that I bought at Tavistock Pannier market.

Happy Birthday Carl!
I had to wait to blog this one as it was posted to Newcastle. Not good at making blokey cards so hope this was acceptable.

I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder on the blue background which I then distressed and roughly inked with gold before matting onto gold self adhesive paper. The arrow doodle and swirly dots were from the Crafters Workshop stencil as was the 'C' which was just a swirl. I added the 'a, r and l' stamps from my Hampton Arts 'Decadence' alphabet set. I added a shadow line in a darker blue to the name and the greeting.
