Having some Bamboo fun!

Strange title eh?

Well the reason behind it is that I've bought myself a Wacom Bamboo Fun Graphics Tablet.  It's easier for me to hold the pen and use that as my 'mouse' than it is to use a mouse or fingertip mousepad on my laptop as it means I'm not resting the palm of my hand on the desk and making my Carpal Tunnell Syndrome worse than it already is (hospital appointment next Tuesday morning btw).

I am truly amazed at how fantastic it is.  Obviously I still have to type so have to rest my palm on the front of the laptop but I've been editing photographs and it's a total breeze with this little fella!

Weird thing though... Freya's Samsung netbook doesn't register the touch of my fingers on my right hand on her fingertip mousepad and neither does the Bamboo properly (my left hand is fine).  My Dell laptop is absolutely fine and tracks my fingertip movements perfectly.  Not sure why that is, if anyone can explain it to me I'd really love to know.  I'm not convinced that it's not  because my right hand is always so cold and dry (I get through LOADS of handcream - once being accused of having OCD as a result of how many times I apply it!)

Anyhoo.. I now need a bigger desk but I'm such a happy Bamboo-er with my shiny new toy to play with!

Kirsty's Colour Burst of Fanciful Things CD

I am truly blessed and lucky to have been asked by the lovely Kirsty Wiseman to do some design work using her new (A-MAZING) CD.  (You can buy it from her site, just click on the link and it'll take you to Kirsty's little shoppie).

I couldn't wait to rip this little baby open to see the papers that she had lovingly created using blood, sweat and tears!  Now I have to say that I was lucky enough to have a little sneaky peek of the papers in December when Freya and I went to stay with her but the disc wasn't finished and I was blown away by the newer papers that she'd come up with since our visit.

The disc is being launced on Create & Craft tomorrow (Wednesday 3rd March) at high noon and if you get the chance to tune in and drool then please do!

For now, here's what I made to tempt you...

A simple little paper lunch bag decorated for a typical British cream tea party!

This is a simple little mirror in a pine wooden frame from Ikea.  Simply cut your papers, mitre the corners then apply a THIN layer of pva glue to the frame and apply your papers.  Brayer down to eliminate any air bubbles and then decorate!  I coated the saying with some Glossy Accents to give it a lovely, glossy, smooth feel.  Great for a girl's bedroom eh?

Don't forget to watch (or record) Kirsty's show on Create and Craft at noon tomorrow.  If I were her, I'd be as nervous as anything!

Just a few more...

I HAVE been making cards and crafting, just it seems not sharing the danged stuff!  So here they are...

(Sentiment stamp: Tim Holtz - Papers: offcuts - Leaf: Doodlebug - Ribbon: Ribbon Mad - Embossing: Cuttlebug - Inkpad: Stazon)

(Papers: BasicGrey - Stamp: Hero Arts - Ribbon: Pj's from Primark!)

Now I know I made this one for a challenge, but and danged to know which one as it was made a week or so ago and has sat on my desk ever since! OOPS!

Inspirational Card Sketches #65

Ok, I'm posting this one up for last week as the new one for this week goes live on ICS! I know, I know!  I did have it made in time, just not photographed.

Maybe this week I won't be late!

Materials:
White 5 1/4" square card.
Papers: K&Company - Hannah Scrap Pad To Go.
Ribbon: Ribbon Mad.
Alphas: Doodlebug.
Journalling pen (scallops) Stabilo.

Di Hickman's Card sketch February #4

My second 'catch up' challenge card is for Di Hickman.

I bought a K&Company Scrap Pad to Go 'Hannah' recently in the WH Smith sale for half price.  The 36 papers are a lovely weight and all double sided too which is an added bonus.  It also included 2 sheets of stickers and 8 sheets of die-cuts including alphabets, tags, folders and frames.

I covered a simple 6"x4" card with some of he paper, added a couple of brads and some twine to tie it shut and then added a die cut folder and card to finish.  Simple, elegant and effective I think!

Daring Cardmakers - Here comes the sun!

I've not taken part in challenges for far too long and it was fine time I got my wotsit into gear and joined in again, so I did!

So, to kick start off my challenges this week...

DCM asked for cards in the theme of  Here comes the sun!  Colours of Red, Oranges, and yellows.

The papers from Kirsty  Wisemans's new CD (see previous post) fit this perfectly due to the gorgeous rich warm colours, so I came up with this simple card.  Papers; ribbon; gems and buttons - easy peasy!

Materials:
5"x7" card.
Papers from Kirsty Wiseman's new CD - Colourburst of Fanciful Things.
Gems & buttons from stash.
